The first set of this series was aired from February to May, nevertheless, as the next series it has been broadcast until the grand final in November from July/August. FremantleMedia Australia produces the X Factor, and is broadcast on the Seven Network. The title"xfactor" describes a singing talent that is"exceptional" and"something" that produces for celebrity quality. Network Ten held rights in 2005 to The xfactor, but fell the series after the first series as a result of poor ratings. This year, the Network went into a"bidding war" to gain rights to its series, also later won and another series moved into production. Following a highly successful Australian Idol was no more broadcast throughout Network Ten the X Factor was revived. It is also broadcast in New Zealand on TV3. Two string of those Xtra Factor were aired throughout Network Ten in 2010 in 7Two and 2005. The series wasn't renewed for a third series in 2011.
The original panel line-up in 2005 contains Kate Ceberano, Mark Holden, and John Reid. After the series was restored in 2010, the judging panel was replaced by Ronan Keating, Guy Sebastian, Natalie Imbruglia, and Kyle Sandilands. Sandilands and imbruglia did not return for show three and were replaced by Melanie Brown and Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Dannii Minogue and Redfoo joined the panel since replacements for both Brown and Sebastian in the series. During the televised audition phases of this xfactor, originally the contestants sang within an"audition room" infront of just the judges, but in the show two onwards all auditionees sing onstage in an arena, in front of the judges and a live crowd. The successful acts then advance to the next stage of this contest,"boot camp" and after"home visits", where in fact the judges narrow down their category to three actions who'll carry on to the concert events, where the public vote for their favourite act, after weekly performances by the contestants.
