Max Headroom
Max Headroom is a satirical science fiction television series produced by Chrysalis Visual Programming and Lakeside Productions for Lorimar-Telepictures that aired on ABC in the United States from March 1987 to May 1988. Max Headroom: 20 Minutes into the Future, a Channel 4 British TV pilot produced by Chrysalis, served as the inspiration for the series. Because of the locale and the usage of an almost exclusively American cast, as well as its airing on the ABC network in the United States, the series is frequently misidentified as an American-produced show. The UK pilot was followed by a six-week run of highlights from The Max Headroom Show, a music video show in which Headroom appears between music videos, on Cinemax. ABC was intrigued by the pilot and commissioned Chrysalis/Lakeside to develop the series for US audiences. The show premiered in late 1986 and ran for six episodes in its first season, followed by eight in season two.
