Maverick

Roy Huggins is the mind behind the creation of the American Western-themed comedy series Maverick, which airs on television. James Garner portrayed Bret Maverick, a deft and intelligent cardsharp, on the show that aired on ABC from September 22, 1957 until July 8, 1962. The show ran from those dates. After the eighth episode of the first season, Jack Kelly took over the role of his brother Bart. From that point on, Jennifer Garner and Jack Kelly took turns playing the lead role each week, alternating roles and occasionally working together for a two-brother episode. The Mavericks were a group of poker players from Texas who traveled all over the American Old West and on riverboats in the Mississippi River region. They were constantly getting into and out of life-threatening trouble of one kind or another, typically involving money, women, or both. The Mavericks were known for their boldness and daring. In most cases, they would be forced to choose between a moral conundrum and an unexpected windfall of financial resources. Because both Mavericks were so deeply committed to doing the right thing, their moral compass almost always prevailed over their financial interests. Roger Moore was cast in the role of their cousin Beau Maverick after James Garner was forced to leave the show at the end of the third season owing to a legal issue. Later on in the fourth season, Robert Colbert made an appearance as Brent Maverick, the third brother in the Maverick family. In any given episode, there would never be more than two of the series leads together, and most of the time, there would only be one.
