Jack of All Trades

Jack of All Trades is an action-comedy television series that aired on syndicated television for two seasons in the year 2000. Each episode of the series lasted for half an hour. Together with Cleopatra2525, it formed the Back2Back Action Hour, and both shows were notable for being the first American non-animated action series to be produced in the half-hour format since the 1970s. This made the Back2Back Action Hour one of the most successful television formats of all time. The television program was canceled in the midst of its second season when it was broadcast. The story takes place at the turn of the 19th century on the made-up island of Pulau-Pulau in the East Indies, which was ruled by the French. It was President Jefferson who dispatched the American secret agent Jack Stiles to that location. While he is there, he makes touch with his British contact and falls in love with an English spy named Emilia Rothschild. These two individuals collaborate in an effort to thwart Napoleon as well as a number of other dangers to the United States. To the general public, Jack is known as Emilia's attaché; but, when danger threatens, he dons a mask and becomes a masked hero known as The Daring Dragoon. The show featured many running gags, such as intentional historical inaccuracies, Jack being responsible for many significant historical events but not receiving credit for his contributions, Emilia inventing a miraculous invention in an obvious deus ex machina, sexual puns and innuendos, and the ongoing romantic tension between Jack and Emilia.
