Heartland
Heartland was a Australian television drama series that ran at 1994 on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It ran for ten episodes and starred Cate Blanchett along with Ernie Dingo. The series was known as Burned Bridge in a few countries.
Heartland deals with the puzzle surrounding the doubts regarding the guilt of her boyfriend, who is arrested for her murder and the departure of an Aboriginal girl. It is also a love story of the people their relationship that is growing must endure aggression from the black and white communities along with these different backgrounds, attitudes and cultures' obstacles. Place at a little coastal town against the turmoils of mystery murder and love, Heartland follows the individuals using their battle to restructure their particular means of life and the community. Their struggle to restore their self esteem despite the obstacles in their path, towards a future that is positive.
Storyline elements revolve round Elizabeth Ashton, also a writer arriving in a tiny coastal community's character. A level of suspicion is present involving the newcomer who is ignorant of any underlying tensions. This lets her to befriend local Aborigine Vincent Burunga. Into this mixture is the local authorities officer Phil McCarthy who attempts Ashton's affections whilst being aggressive to her friendship using Burunga, not simply as a suitor, but because of racial bias.
