Fawlty Towers
In 1975 and 1979, BBC Television aired two episodes of the British sitcom Fawlty Towers on BBC2. A total of twelve episodes were produced. In addition to acting in the show, John Cleese co-wrote the script with his ex-wife Connie Booth. A fictional hotel in Torquay's "English Riviera," Fawlty Towers, serves as the setting for the series. Basil Fawlty, his dictatorial wife Sybil, a comparably normal chambermaid Polly, and hapless Spanish waiter Manuel are the stars of the show, which revolves around their efforts to run the hotel in the face of ludicrous situations and a variety of demanding and unusual visitors. Fawlty Towers was chosen the best British television series of all time in a poll conducted by the British Film Institute in2000. The list was voted on by members of the film industry.
