Alfred Hitchcock Presents is an American television anthology series hosted by the legendary director. Dramas, thrillers, and mysteries were included in the series. By the time the show debuted on October2,1955, Hitchcock had been a film director for more than three decades. Alfred Hitchcock Presents was selected one of "The 100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME" by Time magazine. To capitalize on the popularity of the television series, a series of literary anthologies under the title Alfred Hitchcock Presents was published. Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Stories They Wouldn't Let Me Do on TV was the title of a compilation devoted to stories that censors wouldn't allow to be adapted for the TV series; yet, several of the stories were later adapted.
