The White Sun of the Desert
The setting is that the east shore of the Caspian Sea (now's Turkmenistan) where the Red Army soldier Fyodor Sukhov was fighting with the Civil War in Russian Asia for quite a few years. After being hospitalised after which demobbed, he lays off house to combine with his wife, just to be caught in a desert battle involving a Red Army cavalry unit along with Basmachi guerrillas. The cavalry unit commander, Rahimov,"convinces" Sukhov to help, temporarily, with the security of abandoned women of their Basmachi guerrilla leader Abdullah's harem. Leaving a new Red Army soldier, Petrukha, to assist Sukhov using the job, Rahimov along with his cavalry unit set out to chase fleeing Abdullah.Sukhov and women from Abdullah's harem come back to a neighboring shore town. Soon, looking for a seaway across the border, Abdullah and his group come to the same town...
