Complies with the tale of Miguel Santos, a. k. a. Sugar (Algenis Perez Soto), a Dominican pitcher from San Pedro de Macorís, struggling to make it to the major leagues and also draw himself and his family out of destitution. Playing expertly at a baseball academy in the Dominican Republic, Miguel finally gets his break at age 19 when he advancements to the USA' minor league system; however when his use the pile falters, he starts to question the purpose of his life's passion.
