Ezer Kenegdo

When Yisroel "Izzy" Jonigkeyt, a Chassidic Jew from Crown Heights, travels to San Francisco to visit his Polish-born Catholic friend Marek Wisniewski, he wants to find out why a Bay Area art-world iconoclast named Harry Kierk wants to destroy a lifetime's worth of his own work. As the visit progresses, Izzy and Marek realize for the first time that their curious friendship is being hampered by complicated historical baggage, and they soon realize why Kierk is driven to destruction. Continued encounters with Marek's vaguely anti-Semitic cousin Irek (their only point of contact with Kierk) only exacerbate these tensions.
