The film is a documentary about the building of the 30 Seconds to Mars album That is War and the struggle against record label EMI of the band. Contained in Artifact are a few interviews, for example, one with neurophysicist Daniel Levitin, composer of the popular science publication This Is Your Brain On Songs.
