Another Barrio

"Another Barrio" follows housing inspector Bob Morales as he investigates the odd circumstances surrounding a tragic fire, as though ripped from today's headlines reporting fires, evictions, and street riots. Morales encounters corruption at City Hall and the intriguing Sofia Nido, a lovely flame from his past, while investigating a residential hotel in San Francisco's Latino Mission District. While investigating the incident, Morales is forced to confront his own problems and becomes entangled in a hazardous web of deception as he is lured into the sordid underworld of bribery, corruption, and murder. Based on a story by San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, this indie Neo-noir feature film takes audiences deep into areas and communities rarely seen on film, while also addressing concerns such as gentrification and displacement of low-income populations.
