Former yakuza boss Mikami, who had spent the better part of his middle age behind bars, is finally freed after spending 13 years for murder. He registers for a TV show and meets a young TV director named Tsunoda in the hopes of tracking down his long-lost mother, from whom he was separated as a youngster. Meanwhile, it's difficult for him to find steady employment and integrate into normal life. His relationship with Tsunoda and the people who desire to help him is strained due to his impulsive, obstinate nature and deeply held convictions.
